Where your Council Tax goes

The Council Tax you pay is split between various authorities. The table below shows how much of your Council Tax goes to these authorities.

(All figures quoted refer to Council Tax Band D and are rounded to the nearest pound. percentages expressed to one decimal place).

Increases that are being asked for this year

Oxfordshire County Council have frozen their Band D Council Tax at the 2011/12 level of £1,162.

Oxford City Council's overall Band D Council Tax (including the parishes) remains at the 2011/12 level of £267.

The Thames Valley Police Authority have frozen their Band D Council Tax at the 2011/12 level of £154.

Expenditure and Income

Our planned expenditure for 2012/13 is £24.29m.

The amount to be raised by Oxford City Council in Council Tax in 2012/13 is £12.587m (£12.07 in 2009/10, £12.45m in 2010/11, and £12.528m in 2011/12).

The increase in Council Tax Yield is due to the Tax Base increasing from 46,984 to 47,134.

Our total of external funding to be received for 2012/13 is £11.719m. This represents a net reduction of 12.2% on our adjusted figure for 2011/12 of £13.348m.

Parish Councils

We provide services to four Parish Councils within our boundaries.

The Parishes also make a demand to fund services they provide, which residents pay for as part of their Council Tax bill.
