Small Repairs Scheme

Oxford City Council's Environmental Health Department runs a Small Repairs Scheme for small jobs which can be done at a standard hourly charge. For information please see contact details below.

Transport Scheme

Shopping Services

Some supermarkets will deliver for a small charge. The County Council also has a shopping scheme (please see below).

Day Centres

These can provide a range of services such as a hot meal, information and advice and health services. You can refer yourself or ask family, friends or your GP to refer you. You can contact Oxfordshire County Council for more information using the contact details below on this page.

Health Services

Some health services such as district nursing, physiotherapy and chiropody can be provided by referral from your GP.

Services available from Oxfordshire County Council

The following services require an assessment by staff from Oxfordshire County Council Social and Community Services. They will only be provided if you are assessed as needing these and a charge may be made.

You can refer yourself for an assessment or can be referred by family, friends or your GP.

You can contact the County Council using the contact details below or a form can be downloaded online at Oxfordshire County Council's website. If you do not qualify for help staff may be able to give you information and advice about other options.

  • Home Support Service. Home support provides practical help with the personal, social and rehabilitative care tasks associated with ordinary living, such as washing and dressing, preparing meals, eating and drinking, help with toilet needs.
  • Occupational Therapy. Occupational Therapists can give advice if you need help due to a disability or frailty. They can help provide equipment or aids and adaptations to your home to enable you to stay independent.
  • Delivered Meals. Frozen meals can be delivered weekly. If necessary a microwave and freezer can be provided for your use.
  • Shopping Scheme. If you are unable to do your own shopping, you can get help ordering your groceries over the telephone. Your shopping will be delivered, and can be put away in your cupboards by the driver, if you would like.
  • Laundry. A collection and delivery service is available.
  • Alarm service. A community alarm allows you to raise an alarm call at the press of a button. You will be provided with a pendant that will work within your home or outside your property within a certain range. Trained staff at a monitoring centre will respond 24-hours a day, 365 days a year, when the alarm is activated.
