
It is recommended that all children and young people aged 5 - 18 get at least one hour of physical activity into their day. To help Oxford's young people achieve this, there are a variety of sporting activities available in the City including:
Street Sports
Street Sports offers children and young people between the ages of 8 and 18 fun sports sessions to get involved in. Our summer programme will be back in 2012.

Free Swimming
Free swimming for the under 17s living in Oxford has been saved by Oxford City Council after Central Government scrapped the initiative.
The free swimming programme for the under 17s and over 60s was scrapped by the Coalition government when it came to power.

Under 17s who use the pools outside the targeted free swimming session will be required to pay £2.10.

Play
Play is an essential part of children and young people's lives. Oxford has 87 play areas around the City. More information can be found on our Play Areas pages.

Playschemes
We do not run any play schemes or after school clubs directly, but we work closely with the Oxfordshire Children's Information Service (OCIS), Oxfordshire Play Association, Oxfordshire County Council and other play related services to help improve play services in Oxfordshire.
