Your responsibilities
- Replacing keys or locks when you have lost keys to garages, sheds and outhouses we have provided.
- Maintaining and repairing any sheds not provided by Oxford City Homes or the Choice For New Tenants Scheme.
Advice
- If a problem has been caused by vandalism or a break-in, you should report the incident to the Police immediately.
- Please be aware that some parts of garages, in particular the roof, may be made with materials containing asbestos. These are not dangerous if they are sealed, in good condition and are left undisturbed. Contact us if you have any concerns and read our leaflet on asbestos.
‘Asbestos - Preventing a Health Hazard in Your Home’
- If your garage is separate from your home, you need to give us both your home and garage addresses when you report a repair.
We need to know
- What is the problem, eg: garage door loose, sticking or jammed; garage door or frame damaged or rotten; shed or store damaged or rotten; lock or bolt broken or faulty; garage roof damaged or leaking?
- If a garage door, where is the garage? What type of door is it: wooden side-hung or metal up-and-over? Is the car stuck inside? If the door is loose, sticking or jammed, what is causing the problem, for example, a broken lock, loose hinges or a faulty spring mechanism?
- If a shed or store, where is it? Did you or a previous tenant put it up?
- If a lock or bolt, what type is it: Henderson lock, cylinder lock rim lock, pad bolt or monkey tail bolt? Where is the garage, shed or store?
- If a garage roof, where is the garage? What type of roof is it: speeddeck, corrugated or flat?
